"Having participated in a trial of the Calming Down course I had already been able to see the benefits of the practical suggestions as useful tools to help to combat the everyday stress of my work in education.

However, it was only recently that I truly appreciated the power of some of the techniques taught by Anthony. I am sure that very few of us look forward to a visit to the dentist and, after being informed that I required a procedure which would take between 3-4 hours, this fear was magnified.

Sitting in the car park outside I can say that I was more than tempted to drive home.  Knowing that this was not a viable option I decided to try using the breathing technique to calm the anxiety although, at this stage I have to admit that I didn't think it would have much discernible difference.

The procedure itself took just under 4 hours and in that time I was able to control the anxiety; even drifting off to a 'happy place' for some of the time. At the end of the surgery the dentist even commented that I had been a model patient and admitted that the procedure is not particularly pleasant.
